Description
Solar Flower have only played a few shows, but are already gracing us with this monolith. Self tagged "Heavy Petal music" and thats mad appropriate. Following a formula that has produced some of the most unique bands in Atlanta in recent years, Solar Flower includes a members who while not new to music, are playing in a band for the first time. Drummer Sidhra (S sorry if i'm spelling your name wrong!) has no prior drumming experience before this band to my knowledge. Dorothy plays guitar and while working on soundscapes for art installations with her art collective Plastic Aztecs, I believe this is her first band as well. Her husband Bo also plays guitar and has been in a bunch of bands spanning a wide variety of music over the years. Finally baby boy Rob Sarabia plays bass and just as Bo, Rob has been in some of the best bands in Atlanta in the last decade. All members sing. So many layers of harmony and balance. Consciousness of breath and negative space. Patience and dynamic. Just as an organism can only physically grow gradually, Solar Flower is in no rush to skip its larval stage and fly away. Heavy but in a soothing way. Vibrations tuned in together. I am in awe of bands that come together so naturally (seemingly). Maybe it's a consciousness of knowing your parts and utilizing them in a way most beneficial to the organism as a whole. Comparing the band to anyone else would be a disservice, so just listen below if the vibe has not been set.
