State Laughter

Demo pressed to vinyl from Nashville's Spodee Boy, which is the brainchild of one Connor Cummins. Connor (from my virtual internet eyes) is the one making things happen in Nashville punk. From Pissbath to Chainshot to Brothers to etc to booking a majority of the shows in his city....It's cool to see someone dedicate so much to their punk community and welcome so many from outside of it. Nashville is one of the more adjacent cities to Atlanta and I wish there was more back and forth between our cities. Anyways Spodee Boy mines the herky jerky jangle of bands like Suburban Lawns, a non synth Devo, or more recently the bands inspired by Jimmy from youtube/Coneheads. The thing i appreciate about bands that fall into this odd virtual corner of music that occupies said Jimmy's musical 2nd Life, is that it's injecting some humor back into punk. If I had to witness another year of 10th wave Disclose worship, I'd start making music that sounds like Jimmy Buffett. While a lot of these bands are still refining their own styles, I like that our current wave of American punk feels more open to expanding their list of influences. Anyways if any of those things vibe to you, this 7" is worth checking out. It is also pretty much sold out from the band/label and it does not appear to be anywhere on the internet.
