State Laughter

The And Band formed out of the ashes of NZ band The Spies including George Henderson later of The Puddle (Flying Nun). They had one split 7" with Perfect Strangers in 1982 and this LP sat unreleased until now. The record sits at the intersection of early 80's musics and the psych/avant garde of the 70's. If ESP-Disk was releasing new stuff in 82, maybe this would have come out. Siltbreeze is an obvious reference to, especially in that they released The Spies collection a couple years ago. The label sites Red Krayola and The Godz which i can see. These just came in yesterday so I'm still digesting it, but maybe i can hear some parallels to Amos & Sara....a subdued Homosexuals....Meandering bedroom/garage music that is indebted to The Piper at The Gates of Dawn as much as Unknown Pleasures. I have the flu...in bed right now, so thats all i got.
