State Laughter

First LP from Graeme and Peter Jefferies under the This Kind Of Punishment moniker from 1983. Graeme would go on to later play in/as The Cakekitchen and Peter has been in pretty much every band from New Zealand ever. Beautiful weaving guitars...From the era where Joy Division and the Velvet Underground were mother and father. Originally released on Flying Nun, but they were the black sheep of that camp....on the other side of the sun. The dual tracked vocals are always what come to mind when i think of Graeme Jefferies since i first found a copy of "Messages From The Cakekitchen" (which is still one of my NZ favorites)...I guess its a NZ trope as i've heard Galbraith's voice weave in and out of tune with him self in stereo. (something that has influenced my own singing heavily). I've got the 2nd LP and 7" the Superior Viaduct did too, so grab em all!
