State Laughter

Every new thing i hear from Brannon polarizes me...in the sense that i am excited to exist in a scene with someone for such a knack for songwriting and simultaneously jealous of how seemingly easy he can craft such ominous songs while still being catchy. We have had conversations about aging and not immediately being able to identify with a lot of current punk/ just not thinking its particularly interesting. After years of bedroom recordings, divergence from his long line of acoustic instrument driven punk is very welcome. The use of drum machines and synthesizers enhances his dark penchant for writing and really takes it to a maniacal place that he was searching for in other bands but couldn't get to. Honestly this shit should have just come out straight on vinyl its that refined. I know Ryan would have liked too. Also salute for SOD moving into 30+ releases. Atlanta would have shit for documentation of the special scene we have here without Ryan and Greg's work. I don't even need to list a bunch of bands to compare this too, just listen to the tape below...(especially Dungeon Level Four)....it'll sell itself.
