Coil is probably more about ritual magick than music. I sometimes wonder if they would have even released their sonic experiments had it not been for trying to make a living. This album was a product of embrace and acceptance of things beyond you. During the recording of this album the band ran into numerous unexplainable software glitches. The misdirections ultimately were the means to the end. Listening to the 2nd song on the album "Opium Hum", I am transported to a cyber punk desert. Bodies paused, floating in thru wire consciousness. Walking along observing those in suspended animation. Approaching the end. Sometimes completely black. Sometimes a horizon bursting with shards of light. Leaving the desert for a flickering city. Something is alive, but its enveloped in a dimension we can't perceive. The great thing about recording, committing your art to permanence, is the mistakes that embolden its shell. Genres have been created this way, entire movements. Embrace chance, worship the glitch!
