LP2 proper by boy genius Adam Keith. His first LP saw pop structure begin to form like calcium deposits around the raw sound/percussion combo that he had been honing for nearly a decade. This trip is even further down that (Decoy) Street, while simultaneously melting over the place. Its really the increasing presence of hypnotic ritual-esque vocals that draw my mind closer to seeing these songs as "pop structured", cos this is still light years from pop music....but maybe the kind of pop music i hear and imagine. I've always loved dual tracking instruments especially vocals with the same exact riff/melody etc. One but also many. Beginning on "Alkaline" takes this trick to a place he has visited before, his voice paired with one in a more femme register. It's such a killer effect. Decoy, illusion. Manipulation of concrete sound to the point of ambiguity. While I'm older now and not as often finding myself out, much less awake, at 4 am...this is the kind of rave music i would want to here live. An immersive haunted house rave full of broken mirrors. Adam is magnetic live. Its very ritualistic in an urban/subterranean sense. Maybe the ultimate realization of what cyber punk should have been. Fuck whatever the band that scored Stranger Things is called...people should be scoring their film and tv with this. Maybe Graeme Revell can pull a few strings. Highly recommended. If he comes to your town, do not miss.
