State Laughter

Another beautiful reissue from my friends at Deanwell Global Music. They were responsible for both recent Asylum Party reissues and the brilliant Modern Mannequins collection that documents some of Atlanta's sorely under documented 80's music scene. Little Nemo were from the same scene as Asylum Party. "Turquoise Fields" came out in 1990 and has that same lush, hazy production as Asylum Party and others from that scene. Late 80's into the 90's was a tough time as far as production values in "alternative" music (and mainstream for that matter)...you get the worst of 80's synthetic production and the fumbling grungyness that sounds extremely dated. But there were some masterpieces (Depeche Mode "Violator") that fall outside the realms of the train wreck that was and bands like Little Nemo and Asylum Party definitely fall into a sound i want to hear.
