Amazing lofi pastoral LP from This Heat's Gareth Williams and Mary Currie. "Beguiling The Hours" is like a demo from Another Green World. The songs are simple, but feel like they've been sung for 1000 years or that the duo just unscrambled the formula for distilling these perfect fractured folky pop gems. They feel like they were written in huge unoccupied house in the British country side....no heat except for a small fire place.....wake up to drink yesterdays wine and bread...piano playing in one room...singing from another....friends invited over...everyone clammers away on something. beautiful spontaneous moments only to be revealed to those present. "Breast Stroke" again another demo to Another Green World....maybe better than Eno though? drum machine, bass, strings and voice. its simple, but perfect. it's interesting to see all the post this heat/solo recordings of the band members....so varied, all amazing in their own right....makes sense why they were so great.
